“She was never here,” Hoyer said of Pelosi. “What is she afraid of? What is she afraid of?”

The comments came a few hours after the House floor voted to impeach the president over allegations that he sought to use his power as president to pressure Ukraine to investigate the former president’s political rivals. She was not on the floor when the vote took place, Pelosi said last month.

The speaker’s comments come just a few weeks after it was reported that she is considering a presidential run, with her aides reportedly discussing whether she may not run for her own party’s ticket this year if Pelosi is elected as House Democratic leader.

“The Democrats don’t take anybody seriously,” Hoyer added. “They all believe they can run their own show.”

Hoyer went on to say that “we cannot take any more Republicans.”

Pelosi had previously said that if she was voted back to be House Democratic leader, she would not seek another congressional term.
