Listen on the go: Four Days investigation, narrated by Kevin Donovan
The Four Days investigation begins on the morning after the death of Edward Snowden, who died Friday in a hospital in Hong Kong. Here are some of the documents we gained in the past four days.
Here is the first document we published in the investigation on the morning after Snowden died. It is an email from Snowden’s attorney William P. Bowe to the government attorney in Hong Kong, Patrick Ho, telling him to make sure that the government did not tell anyone that Mr. Snowden was dead when we published documents.
Here is the first of three documents we published on the morning after Snowden died. It is a letter from Snowden’s family attorney to the government attorney in Hong Kong, Patrick Ho, telling him that he knows that Snowden died in a hospital in Hong Kong.
Here is the second of three documents we published on the morning after Snowden died. It is a copy of a letter Snowden’s son James Snowden wrote to a local paper saying that he had been in the hospital for a week recovering from a heart attack. James also said that they have received death threats from whistleblowers because he helped get the documents released. James is being detained because he is a United States citizen.
Here is the third of three documents we published on the morning after Snowden died. It is a copy of a letter Snowden’s son James wrote to the government attorney in Hong Kong, Patrick Ho, about a week after James was released from the hospital. James says that Snowden also had a heart attack but died before he could make a statement about the NSA programs. James says that the documents were given to China, which led to the release of most of the documents in question.
Here is the fourth of three documents we published on the morning after Snowden died. It is a copy of a letter from Snowden to the Senate Judiciary Committee about a week after he made it public.
