First there was the world championships, then the Olympic games, and now the World Games, and it seems every year there is another World Games coming up, and they are being held all over the world (more on that in another post). Since I’m so in love with the game of pickleball that I’m even including games that were not even part of any sport (just to be clear – I am not including baseball in this, I am including pickleball in this), here is a list of the World Games which will be held in 2015.
There are a few big surprises, especially on the sports side, there was no men’s volleyball, but there is two women’s and there will be a separate men’s and women’s volleyball team at the 2015 World Games so that’s good. No golf, either, though golf is not like basketball, you can hit it, and pickleball is a sport that you can’t hit and you can’t be hit! The women’s team is the USA and the men’s team is Russia, and it’s the first time since the 2008 World Games, that a men’s team has played at the Games. The women’s team is the USA and the men’s team is Brazil, and it’s the first time since the 2008 World Games that a women’s team has played on a men’s team.
But overall, there are 32 sports to choose from, and there are nine, seven, and two on each side, so it’s not as bad as some people might think (we did not even have a team for baseball).
