These maps show Toronto’s current COVID-19 hot spots are not where you think they are.
Toronto’s current map of coronavirus hot spots shows the city, overall, has more than 5,000 cases. That number is close to the 8,500 cases the city had before January 1, and is far more than the 2,050 that the city had before February 10. In February, the province began releasing those number as of March 22.
Currently, in Toronto, there are more than 6,000 cases, with 4,000 in the city itself and more than 3,300 cases in Peel county.
While Toronto has the most cases, according to the province, in Peel, the most cases are in Peel, where there are 6,170. In Peel, the hot spots include:
St. Paul’s Hospital is on the hot list for cases in Peel, on two of the three hot spots. The hospital has more than 2,000 cases, although Peel County’s total includes more than 60 hospitals.
Dr. David Milstein is hospital chaplain at St. Paul’s, is a doctor and an expert on infectious diseases. He says the hospital is doing what it can to keep people healthy and safe. But with an already overburdened system, he says it’s going to be really hard to keep up.
“Our focus is to try and keep people safe. We are doing what we can. To have a hospital operating in the midst of all of these people going in and out of the system is quite a challenge. I’m sure they are doing their best,” said Milstein.
Milstein says the hospital has a lot of resources, such as “many masks, hand hygiene stations, and testing. “Everything we have on hand to try and keep people safe.”
Milstein says the hospital is going to do everything they can to make sure we all stay safe.
“We are a busy hospital, we are a busy family and we should all be thinking about how we’re doing our part,” said Milstein. “We should all be staying safe and we’re going to do that.”
Milstein says there’s a lot more to do at the hospital, and the first step in fighting the coronavirus
