DALLAS — In the end, it will come down to money, and Dallas billionaire Tom Caruso is well on his way to meeting his goal of spending $100 million in this election and beyond. Caruso, who already has a total warchest of more than $200 million, has already hit $90 million, but his campaign has raised and spent more than $170 million, a pace that seems guaranteed to exceed the $100 million mark when all is said and done.

Caruso’s total warchest comes from three sources: his companies, several partnerships, and his own personal fortune. He has made it easy for donors to write checks to the campaign by writing the checks on a website, which allows donors to name their own donors or write only one name. In addition, Caruso has an active campaign website that was not available before the candidates were announced.

Caruso also has a $500,000 personal check for Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, and another $700,000 for Sen. John Cornyn.
